Fanfic - Ruined Plans
Mar. 30th, 2016 12:15 amInstead of writing what I meant to write, I wrote this.
(setup, I'd guess, is that Deadbones and Rob are roommates. I'm guessing in Canada, not that it's integral to the story where exactly they are)
Deadbones had made sure Rob was always out of the house on Friday nights. It wasn't usually difficult, Rob often had plans for the weekends anyway, but sometimes he had had to help these plans along. Buying tickets to concerts or events he knew Rob liked, sometimes getting Rob's friends to drag him out with the promise of free rounds at the bar whenever Deadbones worked, which he hated doing, it set a horrible precedence. Normally they were more easily coerced with just a bottle or two of alcohol and generally didn't like going to his bar anyway.
Tonight was much of the same, Rob had said he was going to be out for a concert, and was gone already when he started to setup for the stream.
He shook his head slightly as he dragged the dress from out of the depths of the closet, laying it out on his bed before rummaging around more finally finding the wigs hidden even further back, dragging them out as he attempted to make the fibers lay flat, making them be neat instead of unruly and messy.
The bar job paid the rent, to be sure, and it was a fairly easy job (except when there was a major festival/concert/spring break going on), but it wasn't quite cushy enough to provide him with all the luxuries in life he had grown accustomed to.
Which is where the weekly streams came in.
For the low, low price of the remaining dregs of his dignity, he got quite the nice supplemental paycheck that kept him rolling in any and all alcohol, drugs, and video games he'd ever want.
And all he had to do was wear a dress, play some video games, and be drunk on stream.
And maybe strip a little, if people were willing to pay that much.
They generally were lately, much to his chagrin. He had hoped to remain fairly small on this niche streaming service as it were, seeing as how he was male to start with in a female dominated place, but lately, lately, more people had been watching. And with them, more money had been thrown at him. It was almost to the point where he made more money streaming than he made at his real job, and he really didn't want to have that discussion with himself over whether or not he should be thinking about making this his full time job.
Mostly because it meant having to tell Rob what he was doing, since there's no way Rob wouldn't hear him getting drunker as the night went on.
And he really didn't want to do that.
He shoved these thoughts away as he shimmied into the dress, setting the luridly pink wig on his head before starting up the stream, grinning into camera.
Chat had already been talking pleasantly about something, some new game that had come out, and became even more animated when the stream started. Even before he said anything he saw he was already getting small donations over on the second screen, causing him to smile wider, pouring a drink out and waving it at the screen, taking a sip.
The rate the tips were coming in was leaving him very drunk in a faster amount of time than normal. So drunk he didn't hear the door to the apartment open and close, he was too busy chattering to stream about the game they had just finished, some terrible indie game that was enjoyable only for it's terrible physics. Stream asked if there was background sound, but he hadn't noticed. So when the room to his door opened, he actually shrieked, scrambling out of the chair and practically hiding behind it.
“OH GOD. WHY ARE YOU HOME,” he shouted, wig sliding off his head as he stared up at Rob.
Rob tilted his head slightly to left, then to the right, as though he was pondering exactly what he saw in front of him.
Which was a very drunk, half naked Deadbones in a wig, cowering behind his computer chair.
Rob continued to stare before slowly walking towards Deadbones, tilting his head to look at the computer screen.
Deadbones jumped up to try and turn everything off, but Rob ignored his attempts, grabbing Deadbones' shoulder and holding him away from the keyboard easily as he looked over both screens.
After what felt like an eternity of silence and silently struggling to turn the computer off, Rob turned Deadbones to face him.
“You're streaming stripping for cash? Are you that broke?” Rob said, almost sounding concerned if he hadn't been smirking so hard. He ignored chat on the second monitor, as chat was going absolutely apeshit, shouting about interruptions and new people, some just asking if this was his roommate he had talked about once, and the one poor moderator trying to keep everyone from panicking too much.
“Well, uh, no, but, have you seen how much a new game costs? I'm not rolling in cash like you, I needed a bit of supplemental income, but like...you weren't suppose to find out...” Deadbones said, face bright scarlet from either embarrassment or the alcohol, he wasn't sure which it was anymore.
“Did you really think I wouldn't find out eventually? Wait, what was that?” Rob said as they both jerked, the sound of a loud clap of thunder emanating from the headphones that hung loosely from Deadbones' neck.
“Oh, uhm...someone donated. A lot, I think,” Deadbones said, looking over at the second screen.
“Hooooly shit,” they both said as they saw how much it was.
“Oh fuck no,” Deadbones said as he saw the message attached to the donation.
“Apparently they like my beard and messy hair. And want me to kiss you. I mean, it is for five hundred dollars. So what do you say DB, you want to whore yourself out to your stream for five hundred?” Rob said, laughing as Deadbones covered his face with his hands, too drunk to figure out what to say.
“Worst night ever,” Deadbones mumbled from behind his hands.
“Terrible streamer, mumbling! You have to speak into the mic. Like this,” Rob said, dragging Deadbones down closer to the mic, murmuring into it even as Deadbones refused to remove his hands from his face.
“You have to speak low into the mic, be all gravelly, really lay it on thick...wow, your chat is really really easy to rile up, like damn,” Rob said, amused.
“Please stop Rob and go away,” Deadbones said, mumbling from behind his hands.
“Are you really going to refuse a five hundred dollars, DB? The nice gentleman...or woman, whatever, paid an awful lot to have us kiss, Shane,” Rob said, peeling one of Deadbones' hands from his face. “I mean, they did just pay all your rent for the month in one go, and they asked us so nicely...”
“I'd rather punch you in the mouth than kiss it,” Deadbones said, breath stopping as Rob grabbed him by the chin, eyes dark before he kissed him forcefully, one arm wrapping around Deadbones' waist, holding him steady as he started to lose balance before pulling away, smirking at him then at the camera.
“I'm going to go work on some things since the concert was cancelled. Try to keep it down,” he said with a smirk, pushing Deadbones back into his chair before leaving, flipping chat off for no reason as he left.
“I uh. I need to go now,” Deadbones managed to squeak out before hitting the button to end the stream, crawling into the bed behind him without removing his clothes, willing himself to wake up later, it all having been a bad dream.
He woke up the next day, headache and hangover whispering to him that everything that had happened was real. He wondered if he could just live in his room and never have to face Rob again. He didn't want to think of everything Rob had come up to say to him since he had gone to sleep.
He had a day off today, so he'd try sleeping more, hoping Rob would go away when he woke up. Maybe Rob would fuck right off and he'd never see him again. He could always dream.
