“Today! Today we are going to learn how to play Quidditch!” Professor Roamin said, stalking up and down the line of slightly trembling first years.
“Shouldn't we learn how to get on a broom first....!” one of the tiny first years squeaked, shrinking away from the professor as he strode over, towering over the tiny child. Roamin was a hulk of a teacher, especially with the huge amount of padded flight gear he was wearing.
“You'll learn that while you're learning Quidditch! It'll be fun! Flying, bloodied noses, wind in your hair...ah, gotta love the sport,” Roamin said, almost breathlessly as he seemed to get carried away in the daydream of the sport for a moment.
“Right! Get on your brooms it's time to fu...uh, it's time to fly!” Roamin said, catching himself before he started cursing in front of the kids again. The headmaster didn't care, but he felt it was just a bit improper cursing in front of them quite yet.

“Now, this is an odd creature, just found within the jungles of South America by a friendly wizard colleague there. Now, be gentle with them, they like to play...oh dear...” Professor Coestar said, corralling people and squishies alike, shaking his head as he gently picked up one of the squishies off of Amda, consoling the third year. “There there, it's okay, the stains will wash out of the robes...I think...”

“So you think if we add some unicorn hoof shavings, it'll change the crows behaviour?” Professor Deadbones said, watching as head girl Shichahn gently added some to the bubbling cauldron.
“It should make them understand more complicated orders. It might also make them more mischievous though...” she said before carefully pouring some of the liquid into a dish in front of the caged crow.
The crow tilted it's head at her before pecking at the liquid, drinking it a bit.
It suddenly shook it's feathers, glaring at her.
“Sugar! Disgusting! No cake, want carrion!” it croaked out, surprising the two of them.

“So how long do you think we can keep the charade up?” Professor Deadbones said, leaning back in his chair, feet up on the table, watching as the Headmaster paced back and forth. Rob chewed on a fingernail nervously before spitting it out, shaking his head.
“We're good. We're good. We have the love and fear of all the house elves, they're making sure to keep the ministry and board directors doused on whatever the fuck you called the potion, it'll be fine.”
“And when it's not?” Deadbones said, stretching out, watching Rob carefully.
Rob stopped, tilting his head as though he knew Deadbones was plotting something against him, staring him straight in the eyes, causing Deadbones to look away. When he looked back, Rob seemed to be back to normal, shaking his head.
“It won't happen! And if it does, well, we go down swinging, don't we?” he said, grinning too widely, teeth too sharp, eyes bright with the idea of the mayhem that would cause.
Deadbones nodded, reminding himself why he had to wait, reminded himself that he couldn't do anything yet, or he would get squashed. He might be good at magic and potions, but he knew Rob was far superior with curses.

Shichahn sighed, closing her eyes as she heard the pecking on the window for the third time as she tried to finish her essay for Professor Justin's class. She knew ignoring it would make it worse so she flung open the window, staring at the insolent bird.
“Want carrion! You promised carrion!” it squawked. Shichahn sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.
“I gave you carrion yesterday. It should have lasted you till today.”
“Did not last. Gave to other crows. Also gave other crows your sparky nasty drink.”
“You...made other crows smart? Oh my god,” Shichahn said, patting her robe, realizing the potion vial was indeed missing.
“Yes! I am smartest crow. I only gave them tiny sips. So I deserve extra carrion!” he said, preening around the windowsill.
Shichahn sighed, groaning.

“So now we will be studying the implication that transfiguration charms can be mutated with help from herbs, which naturally would...” Professor Nisovin said, voice calm and even as he continued to talk, despite everyone other than the Ravenclaws already staring outside the windows.
Not that they thought he was boring, but they knew they'd just have to ask the Ravenclaws to explain to to them at an easier level because every time anyone had asked him to dumb it down he had done this weird pursed lip thing then just started the lesson over again, speaking slightly slower.
The practical magic portions were absolutely spectacular though, and the real reason everyone took the courses.

“This is like the fourth student with a broken nose today, and the second with a broken nose and hand! What is happening out there?” Nurse Jsano said, exasperated.
“Professor Roamin was teaching us how to play Quidditch...” one of the students said, voice muffled from the broken nose.
Jsano sighed as he poured out some healing draught, giving it to the student to drink. He really needed to have another talk with Roamin about please do not get the first years killed right away, he's a miracle worker, but he can't be in fifty places at once to do miracles.
